How can I get rid of squirrels at my bird feeder?

Use seed that squirrels dislike. Safflower seed, Niger thistle, White millet seed and suet cakes for example. This is the most humane method. Another humane approach would be to put some kind of baffle on the pole or wire to prevent the squirrel from climbing to the feeder. Or just buy a squirrel-proof feeder. All these solutions can be bought at your local pet store.

Less humane methods (causes the squirrel pain and discomfort) include hot pepper powder, sticky gel and electrical current. If you don't care, you can read more about these solutions here: http://www.hsus.org/wildlife/urban_wildl鈥?/a>How can I get rid of squirrels at my bird feeder?
Don't know about your squirrels but ours love all those seeds, they'll eat anything

How can I get rid of squirrels at my bird feeder?
Cayenne Pepper - Industrial strength and in copius amounts.

We mix the pepper with the bird seed. The birds don't taste it, the squirrels take off like they are on fire!!! LOL!!!!

Tennis balls for target practice.
We have squirrels at our feeder, but they stay on the ground. Get a plastic jug that drinking water came in, from an office or Culligan man, etc. Mount the jug under the feeder and they won't be able to climb up from the ground.
put the bird feeder up high. and put spikes on the pole.
Lay peanuts or black walnuts further away from the bird feeder for the squirrels and use bird food without any type of nuts or sunflower seeds in the feeder.
I SAY LEAVE THEM ALONE AN THEM EAT TO!!! YA KNOW THEY GET HUNGRY TOO!! I'D LOVE IT IF SQUIRRELS CAME TO MY BIRD FEEDER, I HAVE TO MAKE THEM THEIR OWN FEEDER IN ORDER TO GET THEM TO COME AN EAT!
live trap them and then dround the tree rats. that is how we solved the damage they casued to my garden.
air soft, dont shoot at em just near em, he he he
get used to squirrels---they are clever little buggers and will usually work out a solution whatever you do--or.... 12 bore shotgun ?!!
I trap them in a live trap and take them to a park at least 1 mile from the house to release them. If you release them to close to your house, they will return.
Several solutions:

Water guns (they come back eventually tho).

Have the feeder on a metal pole that has been painted with anti climb pain (messy and need replenishing)

Squirrel proof feeders, these are heavy duty steel consctructs that even a squirrel cant get through (expensive)

Put bird feeder on a wooden pole place a transformer (from the inside of a walkman charger etc) and a nine volt battery at the top and have 2 paralel wires running from the transformer to near the base of the pole. when the squirrel touches both wires with it's feet it gets a small shock pretty much like a cattle fence (might be missing something here it's been a while since I made one) :)
