How do you deter squirrels away from your plants, party lights, bird feeder ?

Squirrels HATE getting wet.

I have a Super Soaker. A couple of hard sprays and they're outta here.

Realize, tho', squirrels tend to have short memories, esp. when there's tasty birdseed to be had. You'll have to keep guard until just the sight of you at the window makes them run.

To deter squirrels away from plants you can pore some

household ammonia around them but not too close to the

plants itself as even the fumes can burn the plant. It will keep

cats away also as well as dogs away from garbage cans.

Pore a ring of ammonia around the feeder, out far enough

away so as not to interfere with the seeds on the ground.

4 or 5 feet out is ideal. If you are lucky you can watch as a

squirrel moves near, gets a whiff and suddenly turns and

runs like the devil is after it. Cats react differently. They turn

and run a short distance, stop and looks back and then sit

down and proceed to wash there face as if nothing at all

happened. Put a little something out for squirrels as well

and be assured they won't forget what it smells like over

there near the bird feeder. Love all the critters and good luck. How do you deter squirrels away from your plants, party lights, bird feeder ?
You can keep them out of your bird feeder by sprinkling capsiacin power into the bird food. This is the substance that makes chili peppers HOT ! Birds cannot taste it, so it will not effect them, but mammals will be repelled by it.

For the lights and plants they sell granulated animal repellent.

You can find both of these products at farm supply stores. If you cannot find the capsiacin, try using crushed hot chili peppers from the spice section of the supermarket!

Good luck!
Shoot them. The more you shoot, the less squirrels that can reproduce. Remember these are animals who run infront of cars- their not too bright!
