Put an upside down cone on the pole that holds your bird feeder. The kind that dogs wear after being neutered. They wont be able to climb up it anymore.
To be honest with you I go ahead and feed the squirrel too. When I feed the squirrel he pretty much leaves my feeders alone.
Buy fancy squirrel shields from those mail order catalogs,... that is what my wife did.
There are special bird feeders which you can buy so the squirrels can't get at the food. Try a search on the google website.
There are squirrel proof bird feeders that you can buy, but squirrels usually find a way to get to them. The best thing to do is hang your feeder from a high branch with a long wire and make it impossible for them to reach it from anything. I have seen squirrels hang from thier toenails to get to birdfeeders. If you leave them a way they will find it. The bad thing is that if you let them eat the birdfood you will be overrun by squirrels before you know it.

It's where you take a long (and preferably wider than the squirrel) piece of sheet metal and wrap it into a tube around the tree. The last time I checked, squirrels couldn't climb smooth surfaces.

Try tying a bag of mothballs to the pole. It doesn't bother the birds but it keeps the squirrels away. Make sure it's mesh material, like pantyhose

You can buy these special things at Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. that are ';squirrel slingers';. Basically the weight of the squirrel will make the contraption spin the squirrel off. They dont hurt the squirrels, but get them quite frustrated...it's funny to watch
i think you should a. get some place that the squirrels can eat and a place for the birds to eat.


or b. when you a see a squirrel on the bird feed then run and scary them off.
